These gloves (the natrile - first photo) are the best gloves I have ever used.  I harvested stinging nettle today with them with no sting whatever!  They fit so closely that you can feel the smallest weed and they last and last and last.  I have had gloves costing $30. and more which did not work as well as these.  They do not wear out at the fingertips like most do.  This spring we (my helper and I) have weeded and discarded the weeds in a row 4 feet wide and 30 feet long and six feet tall and I am still wearing the same gloves!  You will love them - buy some for your gardening friend or relative or both.  They are so inexpensive and so worthwhile.  I have included a latex coated garden glove by the same maker for those who prefer latex and a beautiful purple suede glove for colder times in the garden - all by Kinco.  Myra Bonhage-Hale, Steward, La Paix Herb Farm

La Paix's Lavender Hydrosol
Organically Grown & Distilled June, July 2005

Hydrosols are a by-product of essential oil distillation.  They hold within them the entire plant life at the time of harvest. Hydrosols are much kinder to older and younger skins and to the purse - as they are much less expensive than essential oils.

8 oz. blue cobalt plastic bottle with spray top:  $12.     (with Card describing uses)              Click here to order

Hydrosols have a multitude of uses: spritzing, hygiene, travel,  laundry, fine dining, beauty and skin care.  We recommend that hydrosols be refrigerated for continued freshness.  Beauty and Skin Care:  Spritz on fingernails to encourage healthy growth of nails, on face to set makeup (or with lavender to clean make up from face), as an after shave, spritz on hair and scrunch to refresh and scent hairdo, add a cup to bathwater.  Spritz Yourself:  Cool a hot flash, soothe a sunburn, soothe a pet's hot spots, clean the air, freshen the bathroom, keep in the entryway to freshen the air before guests arrive.  Hygiene:  Disinfect your hands, make your own wet wipes - for you, your pets, your baby.  Keep in the car for dirty faces, hands and baby's bottom.  Use for a healing sitz bath.  Travel:  Refresh the air during travel in car, hotel room, airplane.  Cleanse that recycled air!  Hydrosols act as air-borne viricides.

While speaking at a Garden Club gathering, I was told that the hostess's cat wouldn't touch catnip.  I told her about my organically grown, naturally dried catnip and said I would mail her some.  The day after mailing, the hostess called and said, "The mailman put the envelope of catnip in the front door mail slot and by the time I got home, the catnip was scattered all around and my cat was very happy."

"Loving Intention Pillow"

Each pillow is one-of-a-kind.  Let me choose
the pillow.  You choose the intention which
fits into the smaller heart on the front
of the pillow.  Underneath the small heart is a slit in the pillow into which you can place
either a cotton ball sprayed with lavender
essential oil or lavender flowers.  You choose the oil or the flowers.  The organic lavender essential oil is in a 10 ml. blue cobalt glass bottle and the lavender flowers are in a heart shaped bag. Because these pillows are handmade, they are not perfect, but then, neither is love!  But my intentions were very good.

Pillow with Lavender Oil:  $35.

Pillow with Lavender Flowers:  $30.

Choose among these intentions:
1. I commit to Living Love to the best of my ability, with my thoughts, my words and my actions
2.  I go to my heart and I ask you to go to your heart because I believe in the connecting power of love
3.  I see the greatness in myself and I see the greatness in you. You life and my life have infinite possibilities
4.  I choose joy as my way to live a life of Love
5.  I love and accept you just the way you are, and I respect your right to be different and think differently than I do
6.  I love you and myself enough to tell you what is going on with me, and to listen deeply to what is going on with you.
7.  I use words of kindness, encouragement, appreciation, gratitude, and Love to build up you, myself and others.
8.  I let go of criticizing myself when I do not live Love perfectly, and I give the same gift to you.

December 2004 Herb Buy of the Month - still available

According to Suzanne Catty, author of Hydrosols, the Next Aromatherapy,  "Melissa is calming to the body more than the mind but without being overly sedative.  Use it for stress, anxiety and childhood hysterics (ed.  "Many women buy it for their husbands!").

It has shown some positive results for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).  For children with ADHD, use thirty milliliters in one liter of water; consume throughout the day.  For adults, double the quantity of hydrosol:  sixty milliliters in one liter of water.

During pregnancy, lemon balm can be used to treat morning sickness, digestive upsets and water retention and as a system tonic for general well-being.

Melissa is gentle enough for use on babies; try adding a teaspoon to a night time bath.

Taken internally in the three-week protocol, lemon balm makes a good prophylactic in flu and allergy season and has both immune-stimulating and some infection-fighting properties.  People who are very hypotensive should avoid the three-week protocol, as it has further lowered already low blood pressure in some clients.

Lemon balm is a gentle cholagogue and has been used in digestive drinks for centuries; the hydrosol certainly aids digestion and reduces the intestinal spasms and cramps associated with colitis and Crohn's disease.  In some people, however, it has shown a laxative effect so test it on the individual before using in cases of bowel disorders.

A good antioxidant and anti-inflammatory, melissa can be used on its own or in blends as a skin clarifier and to calm rash, irritations and eczema.  Use undiluted as soon as possible after contact with poison ivy or oak.  (ed. note:  I can attest to its efficacy on poison ivy rash - it worked last summer when my old standby, jewelweed, failed to conquer the poison ivy rash on my arm).

Apply undiluted topically to herpes sores six to ten times a day, ideally as soon as you feel them coming on, and take one-half tablespoon internally at each application."

Always consult your health professional before using.  (Editor)
